As a courtesy to Town of Hempstead residents, the town Animal Shelter will be offering a low-cost, one-day-only spay/neuter for pet cats (non-feral cats owned by town residents) on Saturday, Aug. 4. The price of $40 per cat constitutes a significant discount from ordinary spay/neuter fees for pet cats.
The shelter will perform spay/neuter surgeries for up to 50 cats, so residents should reserve their appointments as soon as possible. You may do so by calling Steven Reichert, the shelter’s Trap-Neuter-Release Coordinator, at (516) 785-5220 ext. 4630 or by email at sreichert@tohmail.org. Payments can be made in cash or by check (payable to “Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter”).
All cats must be brought to the shelter (3320 Beltagh Ave., Wantagh) in cat carriers between 6 a.m. and 7:30 a.m.; payment is due at this time. Pick-up time is from 3-5 p.m. the same day.
Additionally, rabies vaccinations and flea medication are being offered for $10 each, microchipping for $25.
