Assemblyman Weisenberg Requests Input on Proposed LIPA Changes

Assemblyman Harvey Weisenberg (D-Nassau County) is urging people in his Assembly District to provide their input on the Governor’s proposed LIPA plan, which will impact almost every home and business on Long Island.

“The LIPA reconstruction plan proposes major changes, but we must ensure there is sufficient oversight that will protect us from outrageous rate hikes and provide us with improved customer service,” said Assemblyman Weisenberg.

The Governor’s proposal can be viewed on his website at the following link: http://www.governor.ny.gov/sl2/legislation, click on Item #6.

New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli has also issued a synopsis of the Governor’s plan that can be accessed here: http://tinyurl.com/DiNapoli-report

In order to comment or ask questions, you can contact the Governor by e-mail, longislandutility@exec.ny.gov, or by phone at 855-693-8690. If you do e-mail a comment or question to the Governor’s office, please send a copy to Assemblyman Weisenberg at weisenbergh@assembly.state.ny.us, please include your name and address.

“Given our high utility rates and the problems we encountered as customers after Sandy, we need utility reform, but we must make sure that this is done the right way and your voice matters,” said Assemblyman Weisenberg.
