HHS Future Leader Jasmine Nakkab honored by Curran

Assemblyman Brian Curran (Lynbrook-21st AD) presented the “Future Leader of New York State” award to Jasmine Nakkab from George W. Hewlett High School in Hewlett.

Jasmine was selected for demonstrating a commitment to community and her leadership abilities.

“The leadership qualities that young people like Jasmine display are what our state needs,” said Assemblyman Curran. “This recognition encourages a level of thinking that sparks the imagination in our young adults.  It is my hope that, when our young leaders continue their education and eventually get out into the world, they will have a special regard for public service, hard work, and consider how they can contribute their own unique talents and energies toward making the world a better place.”

Jasmine will be attending Union College next year.

Curran is continuing the Future Leader of New York State Award tradition that was initiated by his predecessor.  A graduating senior from each high school and a graduating 8th grader from the private and parochial schools in the 21st Assembly District are honored during this graduation season.
