OPEN HIGH HOLIDAY SERVICES FOR ALL

Just a 2 weeks before Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year and one of the holiest days on the Jewish calendar, Chabad of Hewlett has announced that they will be holding big, "all doors open" high holiday services for the entire community.

As all Chabad of Hewlett activities, these High Holiday services cater to anyone, regardless of background, affiliation, or level of observance.

"According to Jewish tradition, on the Jewish New Year, the doors of heaven are open.  G-d accepts prayers from everyone," said Rabbi Nochem Tenenboim, Director of Chabad of Hewlett.  "The least we can do is open our doors as well, to the entire community.  Whatever you may call yourself: reform, conservative, orthodox, or unaffiliated, we are all Jews and will make sure you’ll feel comfortable."

Chabad's services are "user-friendly”, making it enjoyable and meaningful for both the beginner and the advanced.  Song, commentary and the use of English-Hebrew prayerbooks, enable those of all levels to become active participants in the services.

All efforts were made so services are in a comfortable and inspiring environment, where all feel “at home”.  There will be a full children's program with counselors in a large gymnasium setting to make sure the kids will have a great  holiday experience, while playing and enjoying themselves.

“We don’t believe in a “pay-for-prayer” concept ” said Rabbi Tenenboim “ so we don’t sell tickets and nobody will be turned away due to lack of funds”.  Chabad of Hewlett’s activities are supported exclusively from the local community, so a donation of $120 per seat is suggested to help Chabad of Hewlett continue to provide the community with excellent programs and activities.

In order to accommodate the big demand, this year the services will be held in the large auditorium of the SKA school located at291 Meadowview Ave in Hewlett Bay Park.  Services will be followed by a delicious Lunch/Kiddush.
