Soccer Star Breaks School Record

Jamie Diluzio, an eighth grader at Lawrence Middle School who stands 4'11”, proved his speed and endurance when participating in the Lawrence Middle School spring track season. Jamie ran the 800 meter and 1500 meter events and placed in each and every meet. His fastest time for the 800 meter was 2.27 and 5.041 for the 1500 meter.
Coach Klein, LMS boys track and field coach, stated “Jamie is an exceptional long distance runner. He has great endurance and determination. Jamie runs with a mission ... not to win the race but to push himself to be better each time. He has an excellent kick in the last 100 meters of the 1500 meter and his times will only improve as he grows. Jamie has the potential to be a premier high school distance runner”.
Jamie's speed was evident on the soccer field when he led the LMS soccer team to victory. Playing attacking midfield and forward scoring 8 goals, Jamie was a force to be reckoned with. Opposing teams called him “Messi” and other professional names, in recognition of Jamie's extraordinary soccer ability.
He might have been the smallest competitor but his tenacity, endurance, and athleticism earned him the biggest rewards.
