News shared by the community on Five Towns Patch.

It was a busy week on Five Towns Patch, and your neighbors shared a number of stories pertaining to the Five Towns community.

Here's a look at some interesting boards posts from the past week:

  • New Kabbalah Course at Chabad of Hewlett Draws a Large Crowd: A mystical and meaningful summer! That's how some of the 30 or so participants choose to describe the very unique Kabbalah course given at Chabad of Hewlett Jewish Center this summer.
  • Santino: We Need to do Better: More than 2000 years ago, the Ancient Greeks’ Ephebic Oath was a sworn statement declaring civic virtue.  All Greeks swore not to bring dishonor or disgrace to their city and to leave it greater and more beautiful –better – than the way it was inherited.
  • Irish Eyes Are Smiling at Andrew J. Parise Park: Toes were tapping and hands were clapping at Andrew J. Parise Park for our third concert of the summer series. The #1 Tri-State juggler Magic of Lou Johnson opened our concert event with his Big Time Variety Show.
  • On the Town: Doing Our Best to Keep Car Speed in Check: “Speed Kills” is not only about drug abuse -- it’s about driving. Often motorists are not aware how fast they are going.
