During the difficult times following Hurricane Sandy, Peninsula Counseling Center is here for you. If you or a family member is experiencing symptoms like feeling anxious, sad, fearful, having difficulty sleeping or drinking excessively, please call us at 516-569-6600 ext. 1341 to schedule an appointment with one of our clinicians who are experts in helping people in times of need.

PCC has a longstanding tradition of providing crisis services to the community. To date, we have coordinated with the superintendent of Lawrence Schools to have PCC therapists in four of the Lawrence schools to provide assessment and counseling to students and teachers impacted by the hurricane. We have visited the Five Towns Community Center and offered our assistance to them with their needs. Our Helping Hearts Program is providing transportation to seniors in the community to assist them in getting food and other necessities.

PCC therapists have provided crisis counseling to individuals and families in the Nassau County shelters. In addition, we have been ensuring coordination of care for PCC clients in the Nassau County shelters by providing information regarding their current medications and other emotional/psychiatric needs. We have been able to locate almost all of our clients and provide emotional support to them during this difficult time through phone sessions, if need be, as a result of our extensive outreach efforts to our client population.

In addition, walk-in appointments are available for existing clients or any individuals/families struggling with the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. We continue to provide as much resource information to clients and staff as we can.
