Teen Survivor's Pie Party to Fight Cancer Raises Lots of Dough
Hewlett High School sophomore comes up with a sweet idea to help in the battle against leukemia and lymphoma.
Simply put, it was a very sweet day.
This past weekend, we got the chance to meet an amazing 15-year-old girl who is doing her part to help change the world. Kasey Wien is a star athlete at — a starting pitcher on the JV softball team, treasurer of her class and the entertainment editor of her school paper, just to name a few of her successes.
But Kasey’s also a survivor. Diagnosed with leukemia as a small child, she fought the disease and the odds. Today, she continues her fight to help others beat this disease too.

Kasey was the toast of the Five Towns on Sunday with the launch of Kasey’s First Annual Pie Party at the . It was a bake-off to beat cancer. The community came out in force, and Kasey raised more than $14,000 to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
