Two Parades to Take Place This Holiday Weekend

Inwood and Cedarhurst to host commemorations.

Five Towners looking to commemorate Memorial Day will have two chances this holiday weekend.

If you’re planning to go to either of these parades, bring your camera and send your pictures to stephen.bronner@patch.com or wait for our galleries to post and add your stills and videos yourself.

First, on Sunday, the will hold memorial services at 10:30 a.m. at the firehouse at 188 Doughty Boulevard. The parade will follow at 11:30 a.m., starting at the Inwood Long Island Railroad station. The route will go down Doughty Boulevard and end at the post at 259 Doughty.

On Monday, the will hold its Memorial Day parade starting at 11:30 a.m. The route begins at Central Avenue and Washington Avenue in front of the , goes up Central and ends at the Andrew Parise Park, where a memorial service presided by the mayor will be held.

Local servicemen, clergy and elected officials will participate. The Inwood, Meadowmere Park, Woodmere and Hewlett fire departments as well as the Atlantic Beach Rescue Department will also be in attendance. Marching bands from the NYPD and Lawrence School District will perform.
