Weinstock Named Head of NY Bar Real Estate Group

Benjamin Weinstock, deputy mayor of Cedarhurst and a Uniondale attorney, has been named the new chair of the 4,263–member Real Property Law Section of the New York State Bar Association.

Weinstock is a partner at Ruskin Moscou Faltischek and co-chair of the firm’s Real Estate Department.

"I am exceptionally proud to have the distinction of being the first Long Island practitioner to hold the position of chair of the Real Estate Section of the New York State Bar Association," Weinstock told Patch. "The Real Estate Section is among the largest Sections in the New York State Bar, and certainly it is the most active."

A 34-year member of the State Bar, Weinstock most recently served as first vice-chair of the Real Property Law Section. He is a member of the section’s Committee on Title and Title Transfer.

According to its website, "The Real Property Law Section serves New York real property lawyers and the public, promotes the successful transaction of real estate business in New York State, and contributes to the sound development of real property law in New York State."

Weinstock is a graduate of Yeshiva University and earned his law degree cum laude from Brooklyn Law School. 

"I look forward to a productive tenure in which I am able to achieve many of my goals, including the expansion of the section's membership, decisively addressing several significant pending legislative issues, and enhancing diversity in our section," he said. "Affecting positive and meaningful change is a priority of every activity I am involved in, from serving locally as deputy mayor of Cedarhurst to my participation as a fellow of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers."

The 76,000-member New York State Bar Association is the largest voluntary state bar association in the nation. It was founded in 1876.
