Atlantic Beach Filmmaker to Show Re(birth) at LI International Film Expo

J.J. Huckin is the director/writer/producer/cinematographer of the short film (Re)Birth.

An Atlantic Beach filmmaker will have his short movie shown at this year's Long Island International Film Expo.

J.J. Huckin is the director/writer/producer/cinematographer of the short film (Re)Birth. The film is about a woman who must choose between having a baby and keeping her husband.

Huckin told Disarry Magazine:

Although it is not stated directly in the film…we can see they have been together for a long time.  It is a “us against the world” type mentality they have and each other is all they need.  Then the wife changes her mind and desperately wants a child.  So the dilemma for the audience to deal with is deciding if it is fair for her to have an understanding and agreement with the husband that they are not going to have children but then change her mind.  Who do you root for?  The truth is…it’s grey.  You can understand her feelings but he has a point too.  So we have to see if this tears them apart or pulls them together.

LIIFE will be hosted at Bellmore Movies through July 25. The cultural showcase will feature 146 films from around the world. There will be films from 18 countries with 36 of the movies screened having Long Island ties.

Re(birth) will be shown on July 23 in the Art, Drama, Independent, Personal Narrative category at 5 p.m.

Bellmore Movies is located on 222 Pettit Avenue, Bellmore. For more information on the 16th Annual Long Island International Film Expo, visit www.longislandfilm.com or call 516-571-3168.
