Woodmere Abstract Artist to be Featured at NYC Gallery

A Woodmere artist’s abstract paintings will be featured in a Manhattan gallery for most of June.

Rivka Fuchs’ exhibition, “Pulse of Abstraction,” can be seen for free until June 25 at the Agora Gallery at 530 West 25th St. An opening reception will be held on June 6 from 6 to 8 p.m.

“My goal is to create art that is meaningful to the viewers, the owners; that they should be able to find their expression in it,” Fuchs said in her artist statement. “I am inspired by just about everything I see, hear and experience. ... The seemingly most mundane moments can get my artistic juices going so that I can’t wait to get to my studio to concretize them onto a canvas.”

Fuchs’ art incorporates an array of mediums, including oil, acrylic, encaustic, watercolor, collage, colored pencil, pastel, ink and melted crayon, according to Agora Gallery.

“Using a variety of materials as a base — wood, canvas, paper, slate, cigar boxes, mirrors and books, to name a few — Fuchs’ expressionistic abstraction explores the secret life of color, line and form,” according to a press release. “Fuchs' works are also characterized by their vivacious use of color and the artist’s insistence that the viewer take a participatory role in the completion of the work.”
