73-Year-Old Five Towns Pharmacy Ceases Operations

Five Towns Pharmacy, which had been operating at its current Broadway location since 1990 and opened in the community 50 years before then, ceased operations last week.

National chain CVS acquired Five Towns Pharmacy last Friday, April 12, and transferred operations to its store on Broadway, according to a CVS spokesperson. The deal did not include the physical location at 1019 Broadway. Calling Five Towns Pharmacy’s number leads to an automated message about the shift.

Five Towns Pharmacy originally opened as the family-owned Chateau Drugs in 1940. The pharmacy business’ third and current owner, Saud Ansari, of Hewlett, bought its current Broadway location in 2000.

Ansari could not be reached for comment. Patch conducted a Q&A with him last year about his business.
