Assemblymen Host Fundraiser for Cancer Organization

Event on Thursday to benefit Hewlett House.

Six Nassau County Republican assemblymen will host a fundraiser on Thursday to benefit 1 in 9’s Hewlett House, which helps people suffering from breast cancer.

The “6 for a Cure” event will be hosted by Joseph Saladino (12th A.D.), David McDonough (19th A.D.), Thomas McKevitt (17th A.D.), Michael Montesano (15th A.D.), Edward Ra (21st A.D.) and Brian Curran (14th A.D.) and will take place at Chateau Briand in Carleton Place.

“The members of the Nassau County Republican Delegation of the New York State Assembly are committed to supporting 1 in 9 and Hewlett House,” Curran said, “two organizations that promote finding causes and cures, with the eradication of breast cancer as their ultimate mission.”

The Hewlett House opened in 2001 at 86 East Rockaway Road as a nonprofit community-learning resource center with the goal of providing patients and their families a free, warm and welcoming place to obtain resources and education as well as a safe haven for those whose lives have been touched by cancer.

A ticket for the “6 for a Cure” fundraiser is $100. The evening will include a silent auction of donated items, including Jet Blue round-trip airline tickets to any destination.

“Long Islanders have always been known for stepping up when their neighbors are in need, and the Long Island Breast Cancer Action Coalition needs our support,” Ra said. “Those afflicted by cancer display tremendous strength and courage on a daily basis, and this worthwhile event gives us a chance to extend a helping hand.”
