If you can stand this weekend’s scorching temperatures we have some great outdoor activities for you to enjoy including an old-fashioned baseball game. But if the heat is too much to bear, you can stay inside and still have fun bowling, laughing and listening to hit music.

Why go: Hear all the greatest hits of country and pop sensation Shania Twain as brought to you by the Walshes. They will perform her songs and discuss her life and career.

Stand-up Comedy

Where: The Sands at Atlantic Beach, 1395 Beech St.

When: Saturday, July 23 at 8 p.m.

Welcome Home Soldiers Parade

Where:  Ohio Ave. to New York Ave. on Beech Street

When: Sunday, July 24 at 3 p.m.

Why go: The Long Beach Waterfront Warriors will be holding the Welcome Parade for soldiers and their families at 3 p.m. The parade will run along Beech Street down to New York Avenue. The event will culminate with a barbecue at Long Beach Catholic Regional School. This year, about 40 soldiers and their families will be coming from the Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington, DC to visit Long Beach.

Old Time Baseball

Where: Old Bethpage Village Restoration, Round Swamp Rd.

When: Saturday, July 23 and Sunday, July 24 from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Why go: Vintage baseball clubs throughout the northeast will join the Old Bethpage Village Old Time baseball clubs in playing two days of 19th Century rules baseball in the uniforms, style and rules of several early baseball eras, concerts by the Old Bethpage Village Brass Band in the afternoon

Cost: $10 per person, $7 for kids ages 5-12

Free Kids Bowling

When: Saturday, July 23 and Sunday, July 24 from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m.

Why go: Get out of the heat and have some fun! Come to RVC Lanes and register for the "Kids Bowl Free" program and you get one free game every day (weekdays and weekends) of the summer.

Outdoor Movie Night

Where: Harris Field, Malverne

When: Friday, July 22 at 9 p.m.

Why go: Grab a blanket or lawn chairs and head to this local ballpark with your family for a free movie screening.

Summer Swing

Where: Adams Playhouse at Hofstra University, Hempstead

When: Saturday, July 23, at 8 p.m. and Sunday, July 24, at 2 p.m.

Why go: Enjoy this entertaining show featuring Big Band music presented by Hofstra Entertainment. It will feature the swing songs of Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Benny Goodman, Artie Shaw, Count Basie, Duke Ellington and more.

Free Outdoor Concert

Where: Echo Park Ball Field, 401 Nassau Blvd, West Hempstead

When: Sunday, July 24 at 6:30 p.m.

Why go: The New York Connection, a six-piece show band will cover popular songs from the big band era of the forties to current hits. This free concert is sponsored by the West Hempstead Community Support and Civic Association and Astoria Federal Savings Bank.
