Lawrence Mayor Takes Part in Meeting With U.S. President

Martin Oliner attends Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations assembly with President Barack Obama.

Village of Lawrence Mayor Martin Oliner was part of a 50-person delegation on Tuesday that met with President Barack Obama at the White House to discuss Israel, the Middle East and other issues.

During the nearly one-hour meeting, Obama spoke about the recent veto of the anti-Israel resolution at the United Nations Security Council, the recent protests in the Middle East and the possibility of peace between Israel and its neighbors, according to a story on the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations website.

Oliner said he did not wish to comment on the meeting at this time.
