LIRR Adds Trains for Sabbath Observers

"Sundown" service was brought back on Friday.

It just got a little easier for Five Towns Sabbath observers who take the Long Island Rail Road.

The MTA brought back its "Sundown" trains on Friday that includes additional eastbound trains for the Far Rockaway branch. The extra Friday afternoon trains are meant "for those who must be home before sundown for religious purposes," according to the transit agency's website.

The "Sundown" service was reintroduced due to customer requests, the MTA said, and will be offered through March, months when the sun goes down as the work day ends.
