New Year, New Officers for Inwood Civic Association

Installation of officers renews optimism for civic's membership.

The Inwood Civic Association (ICA) welcomed a new slate of officers at Thursday night’s installation ceremony at the in Inwood.

Incoming president Michael Gliner’s agenda is already pointed toward more effective fundraising efforts, enhanced community outreach and improving the association’s website.

Outgoing president Tony LaFerrara, the newly installed chairman of the board, has high hopes for 2011. “I’m optimistic about the new year and the new president,” LaFerrara said. “I’m really proud to be part of this.”

Gliner graciously accepted his new position after having previously served as first vice president.

Prior to the evening’s installation ceremony, the Civic Association accepted the minutes from December and discussed the budget for holiday decorations. In other business, membership agreed to donate to a local early childhood development program, and review the repairs made to the graffiti marked sign that greets motorists on Nassau Expressway.

The group also announced its Annual Citizen of the Year Dinner, honoring Chris McGrath, scheduled for Saturday, March 26. Dinner tickets and commemorative ad opportunities are available through the Inwood Civic Association.
