Update: The sign has been removed, according to Joan Small.
A Lawrence resident got an unpleasant surprise on Tuesday when she noticed a large political campaign ad had been attached to her fence without her permission.
Joan Small, who lives on Broadway near where it intersects with Rockaway Turnpike, said that sometime between Monday night and Tuesday morning, someone had attached to her fence a large ad for Adam Moser, who is running against Howard Kopel for legislator of the seventh district.
“I can’t get it off. It was put on my fence without permission and damaged my fence,” she said. “I don’t even know who Adam Moser is.”
Small, who was asked to contact local media by a member of Kopel’s staff, complained to the Moser campaign and told them to remove the sign and fix her fence. A campaign official said they would remove the sign on Wednesday.
"We deeply regret the placement of one of our signs at this individual's address,” said Robert Schurz, deputy campaign manager for the Committee to Elect Adam Moser. “The campaign has spoken with the person in question, and will be removing the sign immediately. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused, and promise that it will not happen again."
