Woodmere Kitty Saved by 'Zombie' in Times Square
Microchip leads back to owner, a member of the NYPD.
A potential "Disaster" for a cat missing from Woodmere for two years has been averted, thanks to the efforts of a "living dead."
Jeremy Zelkowitz, 22, who plays a zombie that haunts the streets of Time Square, dropped his act Saturday to rescue a cat that was darting through traffic, the Huffington Post reported. The performer, who works for Times Scare, eventually caught the cat — named Disaster — and brought him to BluePearl Veterinary Partners.
A microchip embedded in the kitty pointed to its owner — Woodmere resident and New York City police officer Jimmy Helliesen. Apparently, Disaster slipped through a window screen two years and hasn't been seen since.

He told HuffPost Weird News:
"I guess he wanted the bright lights and the big city — I was shocked to see him. I always assumed a neighbor took him in. He's a friendly cat. I thought someone was playing a joke on me when I got the call."
