Solages Wins Reelection, Will Represent Inwood

Legislator Carrie Solages will represent Inwood for the next two years as he easily defeated Republican challenger Naomie Jean-Philippe.

The young Democrat, who has served in Mineola for two years, captured 7,272 votes, or 69.11 percent, to Jean-Philippe’s 3,239, or 30.78, with 98 percent of the vote counted, according to preliminary election results.

Solages, of Elmont, said he wants to work on restoring the Fifth Precinct, which was combined with the Fourth Precinct under the Republicans’ police consolidation plan, and look into traffic solutions on the 878.
