National Council of Jewish Women Peninsula Section - Lecture Series - "The Police and the Constitution" - James Coll

Can a police officer frisk someone who is not taken into custody?  Is evidence seized without a warrant admissible in court?  Does the Miranda warning have to be read to every suspect arrested?  Is the search of a vehicle operated by someone who violated a minor traffic infraction lawful?  James Coll, presents an informative lecture with a unique perspective. He will be highlighting circumstances and Supreme Court decisions, explaining how this applies to the evolving powers and limitations of the police in modern society.

James Coll is an adjunct associate professor of American and Constitutional history at Nassau Community College.  He is also a detective in a tactical and rescue unit for the New York City Police Department.

Lecture presented by National Council of Jewish Women Peninsula Section - $10.  Call 569-3660 for information.
