Arnold Levey, of Atlantic Beach, Dies at 81

Served as village's parks commissioner and the Town of Hempstead's audio-video specialist.

Arnold Levey, of Atlantic Beach, who served as the village's parks commissioner from the 1960s to 80s, died on Tuesday at the age of 81 of heart disease at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset.

For the past 12 years, Levey worked for the Town of Hempstead producing videos such as public service announcements.

After serving in Korea, Levey worked as a cartoonist on shows such as "Mighty Mouse."

Levey's survivors include daughters Missy Miller, of Atlantic Beach, and Elizabeth Levey-Pruyn, of Portsmouth, N.H.; a son, Andrew, of Atlantic Beach; a brother, Mark, of Malverne; and six grandchildren.

Services were held at 1 p.m. Friday at Boulevard-Riverside Chapels in Hewlett.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Oliver's Fund, 105 Richard St., Atlantic Beach, NY, 11509.
