Joel Shiff, Peninsula Library Trustee, Dies at 68

Joel Shiff, a trustee on the Peninsula Public Library board and a president of Congregation Beth Sholom in Lawrence, died on April 8. He was 68.

Shiff was diagnosed with a rare form of pancreatic cancer in January of last year, but tried to maintain a full schedule, the Nassau Herald reports.

The Lawrence resident graduated from Lawrence High School in 1961 and earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He worked at the accounting firm of Deloitte and Touche after graduate school in 1966.
