Lydia O. Heino Dies at 101

Was a longtime resident of Inwood.

Lydia O. Heino, of Albrightsville, Pa., died on Sept. 9. She was 101.

Heino was born on April 21, 1911, to the late Jalmar and Olga Suominen in Far Rockaway. She was raised in Kustavi, Finland, and then came back to the United States at the age of 20, where she was a longtime resident of Inwood.

She is survived by children Helen Steiger, Mary Sorensen, George Heino and William Heino; twelve grandchildren; two step grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

She is predeceased by her husband, George Heino, whom she married at Russell Sage Presbyterian Church in Far Rockaway in 1932; twin sister Edna Selenius; brother Toivo Suominen; and stepson Rudolph Heino. 

The family will receive relatives and friends on Sept. 15 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Leffler Funeral Home, 30 N. Main St., Jewett City, with a funeral service planned for 3 p.m. Interment will take place on Sept. 17 at 11 a.m. at Gossville (Hopkinson) Cemetery, Epsom, NH.
