Phillip Mistero, a former superintendent of Sanitary District 1 and former commissioner of the Lawrence-Cedarhurst Fire Department, died on Tuesday. He was 77.
The Atlantic Beach resident is survived by wife Patricia, children Laura Mistero and Felicia Mistero-Sarnelli and her husband Vincent, brother Frank Mistero and his wife Wendy, grandchildren Isabella and Vincent and many nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by Philomena Capone, Jesse Mistero, Edith Pappas and Dominick Mistero.
Phillip Mistero was also a longtime member of the Peninsula Kiwanis.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Perry Funeral Home at 118 Union Ave., Lynbrook. A funeral Mass will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. at Saint Joachim's Church in Cedarhurst. Entombment will be at Holy Rood Cemetery.
