Attic Fire at Sandy-Damaged Cedarhurst Home

The attic of a home undergoing repairs to Hurricane Sandy-related damage caught fire early Friday morning, according to fire officials.

An automatic alarm call at 441 Argyle Rd. in Cedarhurst was received by the Lawrence-Cedarhurst Fire department at 5:34 a.m. Two minutes later, Chief John McHugh arrived and reported a working fire.

Twenty five LCFD firefighters were on scene with five trucks. The Inwood, Woodmere and Hewlett fire departments also responded to the scene. The blaze was under control in 30 minutes.

The occupants were not home at the time of the incident. No injuries were reported. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
