AutoZone in Lawrence Robbed at Gunpoint; Suspect Fires Round

Suspect left with stolen cash; remains at large.

AutoZone on the North Lawrence/Inwood border was robbed at gunpoint Friday night, according to Nassau County Police.

Detectives reported that while working at the automotive parts store located at 711 Burnside Ave., a 21-year-old male employee was approached by a black male wearing a ski mask around 8:30 p.m. who demanded money from the registers.

The employee complied, putting an undisclosed amount of cash in a bag. As the suspect was approaching the front door to exit the store, a round was discharged from his weapon. 

He exited the store and fled northbound on Lawrence Lane, police stated. There were two employees and one customer in the store at the time of the incident.  No injuries were reported.
