Update: Bomb Threat Received at Hempstead Town Hall

Two Town of Hempstead buildings were immediately evacuated while Nassau County Arson/Bomb Squad and Canine units searched the buildings with negative results.

A bomb threat was called into Hempstead Town Hall Friday morning, leading to an evacuation of the building at 11:47 a.m., a town spokesperson confirmed.

According to Nassau County Third Squad detectives, a female operator working for the Town of Hempstead Town Hall received a call from an unknown male caller stating there was a bomb in the building.

There were no reported injuries during the evacuation of two Town of Hempstead buildings.

Hempstead police, along with Town of Hempstead Public Safety, secured the area, while Nassau County Arson/Bomb Squad and Canine units searched the buildings with negative results, according to a county police report.

Employees were permitted back inside the buildings at approximately 4:30 p.m.
