Breaking: Blaze Put Out at Woodmere House

Three departments respond to fire on Ibsen Street.

The Woodmere, Hewlett and Lawrence-Cedarhurst fire departments responded to a house blaze in Woodmere sometime around 12:17 a.m. Monday, where at least one person — a woman — was evacuated and treated in an ambulance.

The fire had already been put out by around 12:30 a.m.

Some six vehicles from the fire departments were at the scene at Ibsen Street and Island Avenue, as well as Nassau County police officers and a fire commissioner’s office official. There appeared to be no damage to the exterior of the home, although the room by the front door looked charred.
