UPDATED: Hewlett Bank Robbed by Two Armed Suspects

Police said suspects were armed with handguns.

The on Broadway in Hewlett was robbed sometime around 3:55 p.m., according to Nassau County Police.

According to Nassau County detectives, two masked, black male subjects armed with handguns entered the Roslyn Savings Bank located at 1280 Broadway and ordered nine bank employees to get down on the floor of the bank. There were no customers in the bank at the time.

One of the subjects then jumped over the teller counter and removed an unknown amount of US currency, police said. The subjects then fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction.

The first subject is described as a male black, approximately 5-foot-9, wearing a tan three-quarter length jacket, dark pants and a black and white mask.

The second subject is described as being approximately 6-feet-tall, wearing a black hooded jacket with a broad silver stripe on the hood, blue jeans, white sneakers and a black and white mask.

Before fleeing the bank, the second subject sprayed mace into the face of a 57-year-old male employee, police said. The victim was treated at the scene and refused further medical assistance.

There were no other injuries.
