UPDATED: Harmful Chemicals Found in 2-year-old's Bottle, Car Seat

Young girl and her father are in critical condition in the hospital after they were discovered unconscious in Lawrence.

A 2-year-old girl and her 45-year-old father from Queens are in the hospital in critical condition after they were discovered unconscious Monday in a car parked in Lawrence, police said.

Upon further investigation by the Nassau County Police Department Haz-Mat Unit, the toddler’s bottle contained a chemical found in fire extinguishers called ammonium chloride and a pesticide known as “Sevin” on her car seat, according to police.

No substances were found in the vehicle that may be a threat to the community, police said.

A 911 call was placed around 8:20 a.m. on Monday when the pair was found unconscious behind in Lawrence. When officers arrived, the man and his daughter were in respiratory distress.

The investigation is ongoing.

Nassau County Hazmat teams are investigating a white powdery substance in a vehicle parked in Lawrence after two people were discovered unconscious in the car earlier on Monday and taken to the hospital, police said.

According to police, a 2-year-old female is in critical but stable condition as of an hour ago, and a 45-year-old man is in critical condition. The pair was found unconscious at around 9:30 a.m. in a silver Toyota behind on Central Avenue in Lawrence, News 12 Long Island reports.
