The following information was supplied by the Nassau County Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.
A Cedarhurst man was arrested on Monday after he allegedly beat and robbed a 48 year old in Roosevelt in March, police said.
Artawon Wright, 18, of Cedarhurst, is charged with two counts of first-degree robbery, gang assault in the first degree, criminal mischief in the second degree and third-degree criminal mischief.
On March 26 at 6:20 p.m., the male victim was standing in a driveway at a Mirin Avenue residence when four men approached him. Wright allegedly began kicking the victim in the body until he fell to the ground, police said. Two other men — who have not been arrested — then hit the victim with a baseball bat and a golf club.
A fourth subject, a juvenile, was arrested for taking the victim’s wallet from his rear pants pocket.
The subjects then fled the scene in a dark colored SUV.
The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for his injuries.
Police also determined that the windows of the Mirin Avenue home and the windows of a Plymouth Voyager were broken by the subjects.
