Construction Workers at Staples Robbed at Gunpoint

Three men made off with payroll money, police say.

Three armed men on Wednesday robbed construction workers at the Sandy-damaged Staples store on Rockaway Turnpike, police said.

At about 6:40 p.m., a 28-year-old female victim went to the front of the store, at 345 Rockaway Turnpike, to retrieve supplies when she saw two unknown black male subjects, according to police. One of the men, displaying a handgun, ordered her to the rear of the store where a 30-year-old male victim was conducting payroll services. A second subject arrived and both men demanded money from the male victim. The third subject was also in the rear of the store.

Crime in this area is shooting up. The police need to stop being reactive and start being proactive. This is getting crazy. Our taxes are too high to put up with this nonsense.
