Cops: 81 Accidents Because of Snow
Number of collisions still rising as snow keeps falling.
Nassau County Police are tackling a spike in car accidents as a result of Thursday's blizzard-like storm.
81 car accidents were reported in Nassau County as of 2:45 p.m. Thursday, police confirmed.
Officers said the number is a significant increase in accidents compared to the average day.

With visibility plummeting to less than a quarter mile, the latest numbers demonstrate the all-around danger of attempting to travel in the snow Thursday.
Even travelers on LIRR faced delays and cancellations throughout the day. Service was "extremely limited" by 2 p.m. though it has improved with service "on or close" to the schedule as of 3 p.m.
