Cops: Brooklyn Man Resisted Search, Struck Officers

Officers believed man may have been carrying a handgun, police said.

A Brooklyn man was arrested in Inwood on Thursday after he apparently attacked police officers who were trying to ascertain whether he was holding a handgun, according to police.

police officers said they saw Elton Daniels, 29, carrying what appeared to be a handgun in the vicinity of Prospect Place and Alvin Place, according to a police report. When they tried to question Daniels, he apparently fled, but was located a short time later.

The Brooklyn man apparently became combative during the investigation, striking one officer in the shoulder numerous times and pushing him into a parked car and hitting another officer repeatedly in the shoulder, police said. Officers eventually placed him into custody. A handgun was not recovered.
