Cops: Five Towns Bank Robber Arrested

A 53-year-old man allegedly was responsible for two incidents.

Police on Monday arrested a man that they say robbed one bank and attempted to rob another in the Five Towns.

Carl Petronio, 53, no known address, has been charged with robbery in the third degree and attempted robbery in the third degree.

Police issued Petronio’s to the public last Wednesday and asked their help in seeking his whereabouts.

On Jan. 24, a suspect — now identified at Petronio — entered the Bank of America at 400 Central Ave. in Lawrence and allegedly presented . After getting money, he fled the bank.

On March 28, Petronio allegedly gave a note to a teller at the Citibank at 530 Central Ave. in Cedarhurst. He then left the bank without obtaining any proceeds.

No injuries were reported in either incident.

The arrest information was supplied by the Nassau County Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.
