Cops: Inwood Teen Assaulted Man, Fired Gun at Him

Sixteen-year-old and two accomplices allegedly beat up 19-year-old in Inwood courtyard.

An Inwood teenager was arrested on Thursday for allegedly beating up a man and shooting a handgun in his direction, according to police.

Marcell Haynes, 16, along with two other male accomplices, approached the 19-year-old victim on Tuesday, July 12, at the courtyard of 385 Bayview Ave. in Inwood, police said. Haynes and the victim started arguing over “ongoing differences,” which escalated into a physical confrontation. The defendant, along with his accomplices, allegedly punched and kicked the victim to the ground, cops said.

Haynes apparently then took out a silver handgun and shot found rounds in the victim’s direction, none of which struck him, according to police. The subjects then fled the scene on foot. The victim refused medical attention upon police arrival.
