Cops: Inwood Woman Tried to Rob Island Park Store

Defendant allegedly simulated having a gun.

An Inwood woman was arrested on Sunday after she allegedly simulated having a gun and threatened a store clerk in Island Park, police said.

At 10:54 p.m., Karen Mari, 29, of Inwood, entered Quick Pick Convenience Store, located at 4495 Austin Blvd., and went behind the counter, police said. She then allegedly pretended to have a gun and confronted the clerk, demanding cash. Police said the clerk attempted to grab her and after a struggle Mari fled from the store eastbound on Vanderbilt Avenue in a Buick.

Responding officers stopped the vehicle a short distance from the store and she was arrested. There were no injuries reported.
