Cops: Teen Arrested for Alleged Involvement in N. Woodmere Burglaries

Arrest comes after he and another teen allegedly tried to break into a Valley Stream home.

Two teenagers were arrested Monday after they tried to break into a Valley Stream home while the female homeowner was there, police said. One of the teens was also charged for his involvement in burglaries in North Woodmere.

At about 1:15 p.m. on June 24, Onyx Arroyo, 18, of Rosedale, and Omar Allen, 17, of, the Bronx, rang the front doorbell at a residence on Roeckel Avenue, police said. The 46-year-old female homeowner, while looking out of the glass portion of her door, saw the defendants on her porch.

Both Arroyo and Allen then allegedly went to the side door where they once again rang the doorbell. When the victim arrived at that door, both subjects were not in sight.

The homeowner then heard a loud noise at the rear of the house. When she got to her bedroom, she saw Arroyo allegedly fleeing out of an open bedroom window without any proceeds. The homeowner immediately contacted 911.

Upon police arrival, a description of Arroyo and Allen was broadcasted, and a short time later, both teens were located and apprehended by assisting officers in Rosedale. After being identified by the victim, the defendants were placed under arrest.
