Cops: Teen Tried to Rob Restaurant at Knifepoint

Owner refused to hand over cash, subject fled, cops said.

Cops are hunting a teenager who reportedly held up a Valley Stream Chinese food restaurant at knifepoint, according to Nassau County Police.

Detectives said a teenager was eating at Kim Wong Chinese Kitchen when he approached the 34-year-old owner, pulled out a knife, and demanded cash from the register. The man refused and the subject fled on foot without any cash, cops said. The owner was not hurt.

The incident happened at 10:45 p.m. Friday, cops said.

The subject is described as a black male, about 16 years old, 5 feet 5 inches tall, thin build, and was wearing dark clothing at the time.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about the incident to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
