Crime Report: 3 Car Burglaries in Five Towns

Crimes and arrests reported around the Five Towns by police this week.

Three cars were burglarized in the Five Towns area within one week, according to Nassau County Police.

Cars parked at the Inwood Long Island Railroad station, Trinity School in Valley Stream, and on Rockaway Turnpike in North Lawrence were broken into and had items stolen, said police.

Police also reported three arrests relating back to the Five Towns area. A Lawrence man was arrested in Westbury and two arrests were reported in Valley Stream, all for shoplifting, cops said.

Nassau County Police reported the following larcenies involving cars:

  • Jan. 4-5: Inwood LIRR; rear passenger window of vehicle broken, items stolen.
  • Jan. 6: Trinity School, Valley Stream; items stolen from unlocked car while parked.
  • Jan. 7: Rockaway Turnpike, North Lawrence; items stolen from parked car.

Nassau County Police reported the following arrests for petit larceny. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.

  • Jan. 6: Surojni Basdeo and Jason Persaud, of Jamaica, for shoplifting from BJs Wholesale in Valley Stream.
  • Jan. 6: Dovid Hiller, of Lawrence, for shoplifting from Walmart in Westbury.
  • Jan. 6: Kerry Duncan, of Springfield Gardens, for shoplifting at Macy's in Valley Stream.
