Crime Watch: 2 DWIs, 5 Shoplifting Arrests

Crimes reported by Nassau County Police this week in the Five Towns area.

The following was reported by the Nassau County Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.
Arrests

  • Jan. 9: Stanley Wong, of Valley Stream, on Liberty Avenue in Valley Stream for possession of marijuana.
  • Jan. 11: Joanna Davis, of Howard Beach, at Walmart in Valley Stream for shoplifting.
  • Jan. 11: Sean Shamblee, of Brooklyn, at Walmart in Valley Stream for shoplifting.
  • Jan. 10:; Gina Orella, of Valley Stream, at Central Avenue and Stuart Avenue in Valley Stream for DWI.
  • Jan. 12: James Goodwin, of Elmont, at Oliver Avenue and Elmont Road in North Valley Stream for DWI.
  • Jan. 12: Sabrina Stockman, of Hewlett, at Kohl’s in Oceanside for shoplifting.
  • Jan. 12: Antonio Whitthorne, of Jamaica, at Target in Valley Stream for shoplifting.
  • Jan. 14: John Lee, of Brooklyn, at Walmart in Valley Stream for shoplifting.

Leaving the scene of an accident

  • Jan. 14: Sheridan Boulevard and Bayswater Boulevard, Inwood; a man reported that while pushing a shopping cart across the street, a red car struck the cart, causing the man to fall to the ground. The car left the scene.
Damage and Thefts
  • Jan. 9: Derby Street, Valley Stream; damaged property reported.
  • Jan. 8-9: Delmonico Place, Valley Stream; damaged property reported.
  • Jan. 10: Davis Avenue, Inwood; items stolen from a victim.
