Teens Robbed of Apple Devices in Valley Stream

Two teenage boys were robbed of their Apple devices minutes apart on Thursday in two separate incidents in Valley Stream, according to police.

At about 5:50 p.m., a 15-year-old boy was walking westbound on Rose Avenue when a black male suspect — only described as 6-foot-2-inches tall — demanded the teen’s iPod and threatened to beat him, police said. The boy handed over the device and the suspect fled on foot northbound on Mary Street.

At 5:56 p.m., a 14-year-old boy was walking on Boden Avenue when a black male suspect — only described as 6-foot-4-inches tall — approached him from behind and grabbed an iPhone from his hand, police said. The victim ran from the scene after being threatened by the suspect, who fled southbound on Boden Avenue.

No injuries were reported in either incident.

Brooklyn Man Arrested in Lynbrook on Gun Charges

A police chase in Lynbrook last Saturday ended with the arrest of a Brooklyn man for criminal possession of a weapon.

According to Nassau County Police detectives, Jean Joseph, 23, was riding in the front passenger seat of a 2012 Chevy, which was pulled over on Sunrise Highway by Lynbrook Police after they observed the driver make an improper U-turn and fail to signal a lane change. As officers approached the vehicle, which was stopped at the corner of Sunrise and Vincent Avenue, Joseph allegedly fled with a loaded handgun in his waistband.

A foot pursuit ensued but officers were able to apprehend Joseph on Elm Street around 4:35 p.m. The gun was recovered and no injuries were reported.

RVC Man Charged With Stealing More Than $870K from Insurance Companies

A Rockville Centre man has been charged with stealing more than $870,000 from two title insurance companies, leaving homeowners without mortgages, titles to their property, and liability coverage, Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice announced last Friday.

Gerard Timoney, 54, was arraigned on two counts of grand larceny in the second degree. Bail was set in the amount of $100,000. Timoney was arrested last Wednesday by DA Investigators.

RVC Man Charged With Robbing Bank in June

A Rockville Centre man was among two arrested in connection with a bank robbery in Franklin Square in June, Nassau Police reported.

According to detectives, David Traversa, 19, no known address, and George Armstrong, 20, of Rockville Centre, entered Ridgewood Savings Bank on Hempstead Turnpike and presented a demand note to a teller. After taking an undetermined amount of money, they fled the scene on foot, police said.
