Three Busted Buying Goods With Forged Debit Cards

Three people were arrested on Saturday after they allegedly purchased more than $1,500 of merchandise from the Best Buy in Valley Stream using forged debit cards, according to police.

Adrian Marsh, 22, of Jamaica Estates, Porshia Hayes, 17, of Jamaica Estates, and Shawn Reid, 21, of Rosedale, were placed under arrest at 9:40 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot of Best Buy, located at 6 W. Circle Dr. All proceeds were recovered.

Marsh is charged with two counts of second-degree possession of a forged instrument and grand larceny in fourth degree. Hayes and Reid are both charged with one count of possession of a forged instrument in the second degree and fourth-degree grand larceny.

All three defendants were arraigned on Sunday at First District Court in Hempstead.

A Long Beach man was arrested in Oceanside Thursday evening after he allegedly stole a flat bed tow truck and fled the scene of two separate car accidents, police said. He then allegedly assaulted two police officers.

Around 5 p.m. Thursday, officers responded to a car accident at Atlantic Avenue and Lawson Boulevard in Oceanside, according to detectives. When they arrived at the location, a man told them he had called police and was a victim of a car accident that occurred on Long Beach Road and Daly Boulevard, more than a mile away from that location.

The man pointed out Richie Medina, 22, of Long Beach, as the driver of the flat bed truck that had hit his car and left the scene, police said.

Arresting officers discovered that the flat bed tow truck had been stolen from 550 Long Beach Blvd. and Medina had also been involved in a second "leaving the scene" accident at Austin Boulevard and California Place in Island Park. A woman at the scene of the first accident told police her car had been hit by a flat bed tow truck.

Medina was arrested and taken to the Fourth Precinct in Hewlett. While at the precinct, the defendant allegedly assaulted two Nassau County officers during processing the arrest, police said. One of the officers injured his knees when he was pushed to the floor by Medina. The other officer sustained a puncture wound to his hand during the struggle.

Teens Arrested After Spate of iPhone Robberies

Three teens were arrested on Thursday after they allegedly robbed a 12-year-old boy and two 15-year-olds of their iPhones in Valley Stream, according to police.

The first incident occurred at 3:20 p.m., when a 12-year-old boy was walking on the corner of Rose Avenue and Mary Street. That’s when Darren B. Gumbs, 16, of Rosedale, ran from behind the boy and grabbed his iPhone from his hand.

At 3:45 p.m., a 15-year-old boy was walking home from school in Hendrickson Park when he was surrounded by Gumbs, Oriole Platel, 17, of Rosedale, and Joseph Noailles, 18, of Laurelton. Noailles demanded the victim’s phone. When the victim said he did not have a phone, Noailles punched him in the face and took an iPhone from his pocket. The three arrestees fled on bicycles.

Finally, at 4 p.m., another 15-year-old boy was walking home from school with friends on East Avenue when the three arrestees surrounded them. The subjects demanded cell phones from the group. The victim stated he did not have a phone. The arrestees threatened him, so he handed over his iPhone to Gumbs. The three arrestees fled again on their bicycles.

At about 4:30 p.m., officers canvassing the area for the subjects located the teens and placed them under arrest.

Gumbs is charged with two counts of second-degree robbery and grand larceny in the fourth degree. Noailles is charged with first-degree and second-degree robbery. Platel is charged with two counts of second-degree robbery. The defendants were arraigned on Friday at First District Court in Hempstead.

An East Rockaway man was arrested Tuesday for allegedly trying to break into a local convenience store multiple times.

Police said that Peter DeJesus, 37, attempted to break into the Village Convenience Store, located at 8 Centre Ave., three times by trying to smash the front glass door.

DeJesus tried to gain entry into the store on Tuesday at 8 p.m. and 11:13 p.m. as well as Sunday at 12 a.m., and was caught on the surveillance camera, police said.

Nassau County Police are searching for a man they say robbed the Roslyn Savings Bank on Hempstead Turnpike in West Hempstead Monday afternoon.

According to detectives, around 12:55 p.m. on Nov. 14, a black male walked in the bank located at 50 Hempstead Turnpike and presented a demand note to the teller. Seven employees were in the branch at the time, but none were harmed. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash, the subject fled on foot.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 6 feet tall, between 30 and 40 years old. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and baseball cap. Detectives request anyone with information regarding the crime to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
