Cops: Arguing Couple Arrested After Resisting Police

Police arrested a man and a woman who were arguing in a Valley Stream parking lot and allegedly fought with officers when they tried to quell the disturbance.

At 11:53 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 11, Fourth Precinct police officers on patrol observed a disturbance in a parking lot at Merrick Road and Hicks Street. When officers attempted to diffuse the situation, Allan Gillett, 24, of Howard Beach, allegedly refused all verbal commands to move away and pulled his arms away from officers as they attempted to separate him from Kristina Mastropietro, 27, of the same address in Howard Beach, police said.

Gillett was then advised he was under arrest and again allegedly ignored verbal commands and refused to be handcuffed. Mastropietro then pulled at officers hands while they tried to apprehend Gillett. A struggle ensued and Gillett and an officer fell to the ground.

Gillett was eventually taken into custody with the assistance of several officers. Mastropietro was also arrested.

Two police officers were removed to an area hospital where they were treated and released. One officer sustained a shoulder injury while the second had his eye treated.

Gillett was charged with second-degree assault and two counts of resisting arrest and obstructing governmental administration. Mastropietro was charged with resisting arrest and obstructing governmental administration.

Police: NYPD Officer Hit Five Cars in Wrong-Way Driving DWI

A New York City police officer was arrested early Saturday morning for DWI after allegedly driving on the wrong side of the Southern State Parkway and hitting five other cars.

According to New York State Police, around 1:45 a.m., a Mazda MPV was spotted driving the wrong way on the Southern State Parkway, eastbound in the westbound lanes, near exit 17 in West Hempstead.

Police said the Mazda struck five vehicles and the operator of the Mazda, 48-year-old Ronald Holmes, of Elmont, was subsequently arrested for DWI.

One person was transported to Nassau University Medical Center for minor injuries and three others were treated at the accident scene, but not admitted.

Holmes was arrested for DWI, reckless endangerment in the second degree, reckless driving and several traffic violations.
