Cops: Arguing Couple Arrested After Resisting Police
Police arrested a man and a woman who were arguing in a Valley Stream parking lot and allegedly fought with officers when they tried to quell the disturbance.
At 11:53 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 11, Fourth Precinct police officers on patrol observed a disturbance in a parking lot at Merrick Road and Hicks Street. When officers attempted to diffuse the situation, Allan Gillett, 24, of Howard Beach, allegedly refused all verbal commands to move away and pulled his arms away from officers as they attempted to separate him from Kristina Mastropietro, 27, of the same address in Howard Beach, police said.
Gillett was then advised he was under arrest and again allegedly ignored verbal commands and refused to be handcuffed. Mastropietro then pulled at officers hands while they tried to apprehend Gillett. A struggle ensued and Gillett and an officer fell to the ground.
Gillett was eventually taken into custody with the assistance of several officers. Mastropietro was also arrested.
Two police officers were removed to an area hospital where they were treated and released. One officer sustained a shoulder injury while the second had his eye treated.
Gillett was charged with second-degree assault and two counts of resisting arrest and obstructing governmental administration. Mastropietro was charged with resisting arrest and obstructing governmental administration.
