DA: Man Indicted for Stealing Money from Special Needs Camp

Rockville Centre man is accused of stealing more than $1.6 million from Camp ANCHOR, Impact OASIS and other victims.

A Rockville Centre man was formally charged Tuesday with stealing money from a special needs camp on Long Island, according to the Nassau County District Attorney's office.

Drew Morgan, 43, was charged with first-degree grand larceny and three counts of second-degree grand larceny. He faces between eight and 25 years in prison if convicted.

Morgan was investigated and charged in October 2013 for stealing funds from Camp ANCHOR in Lido Beach. Officials found he had embezzled $1.1 million from the Anchor Building Fund, Inc. while acting as its treasurer and board member, the DA said.  He took another $130,558 from the Corporation for the Social and Exceptionally Challenged Kids, which raises money for Camp ANCHOR and Impact OASIS, according to the DA.

Investigators were led to Morgan after they uncovered bank records showing he had stolen $475,000 from two sisters for whom he was working as a financial planner, earlier reports stated.

Morgan reportedly used the money to pay for a membership in the Hempstead Golf Club, airline travel and hotel stays, restaurants, credit and debit card purchases, appliances, home furnishings and personal expenses such as groceries and gasoline.

"Stealing from special needs children is one of the most callous kinds of theft imaginable," DA Kathleen Rice said Tuesday. "Hopefully today's indictment will help bring the victims in this case closer to justice."

Morgan is free on a $240,000 bail and is due back in court Sept. 19.

He'll be lucky if he only gets 25 years. There are a line of people who want a piece of this degenerate. What's worse is his equally low life family, ESPECIALLY HIS WIFE, walk around RVC with their heads high like they did nothing wrong. AND he had a daughter who was classified and ATTENDED Camp Anchor. These are reprehensible people, and I am sorry but the entire family is as guilty. Disgusting, horrible, they are no better than Al Queda.
