Driver Strikes Tree on Broadway in Lawrence

Man suffered serious but non life-threatening injuries.

The Lawrence-Cedarhurst Fire Department and Nassau County Police Department responded on Friday at 2:15 a.m. to a serious auto accident in front of 421 Broadway in Lawrence.

A lone male driver was traveling westbound on Broadway just passing Carman Avenue when he lost control of his late model Nissan and struck a tree. The car came to rest on the front lawn of 421 Broadway and the driver was able to self-extricate himself from the vehicle.

A fire broke out in the engine which firefighter quickly extinguished. Nassau County Police Ambulance transported the man, suffering from serious but non life-threatening injuries, to the hospital. Broadway was closed for 30 minutes while emergency crews operated at the scene.
