Explosion Causes Fire at Inwood Home; Blaze at Woodmere House

Two incidents across Five Towns happen minutes apart.

A propane tank exploded near an Inwood home Thursday afternoon, causing two people to sustain burn wounds and the house to catch on fire, only minutes away from a blaze at a Woodmere home.

Elisa Hinken, who lives a block away from the scene at 22 Chesire Road, heard the explosion sometime around 2:50 p.m.

“It shook the ground,” she said, “three distinct explosions.”
