Fed Ex Truck Robbed at Gunpoint Nearby

One of the suspects was armed with a handgun, police confirm.

A Fed Ex delivery driver was tied up by two suspects and robbed at gunpoint of his wallet, cell phone and packages Tuesday morning in Lynbrook, police said. 

At 11:05 a.m. near Sherman Street and Arthur Avenue, the two suspects tied up the driver with zip ties and put him in the back of the truck while they made off with the items, said Lt. Kevin Oveis of the Lynbrook Police Department. 
 
The suspects then fled the scene in an unknown vehicle. Authorities confirmed Tuesday evening that one subject was armed with a handgun. 

There were no injuries reported. 

Nassau County Police described the first subject as a black male, 5’10” tall, and having a slight build. The second subject is a black male with no further description, police said. 

West End Elementary School is located just a few blocks away from where the incident took place. The Lynbrook School District released the following statement on their website Tuesday: 

"Earlier today a delivery truck was robbed near Arthur Ave. According to police, the suspects have fled and are no longer in the area. 

All buildings are on heightened alert and are not allowing deliveries to the buildings. All students on the north side of town remained in locked buildings and were safe all day."

The investigation is ongoing by the Fourth Squad of the Nassau County Police Department.
